The Hocking Hills State Park is steeped in a rich and full history.
My personal favorite are the stories about Grandma Gatewood, who at the tender age of 67 hiked the entire Appalachian Trail 3 times. And for those who don't know  it, the Appalachian Trail is over 2,000 miles long.
Later, at age 72, she walked the Oregon Trail to celebrate its centennial. The Oregon Trail is over 2,000 miles also.
One of Grandma Gatewood's favorite hike was the six-mile stretch of trail that connects Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, and Ash Cave, and she led the many hikes along this trail until her death at the age of 85.
