Ocracoke Lighthouse
Ocracoke Island, NC

The first Ocracoke Lighthouse was on Shell Castle Island. The lighthouse became obsolete when the channel shifted, and by 1818, the lighthouse was almost a mile away from the ain channel. It was then built on the south end of Ocracoke Island in 1822.. The Ocracoke Lighthouse is also a part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and you can find out more about the lighthouse by visiting the web site at:
