Summersville Lake Summersville, WV
The Summersville lake is created by a rock filled dam on the Gauley River.
It was completed in 1966, and was built to control the flooding of the Gauley and Kanawha rivers.
With the building of it, Summersville Lake became the largest lake in West Virginia.
Considered by some to be one of the largest recreational areas of the state, with boating, fishing, and scuba diving just to name a few of the activity available.
